MSBSL Billiards versus Lewes

Mid Sussex pipped at the post

A fraction of an inch was the difference between the victory or defeat

On Tuesday 19th January at the Uckfield Club, the Mid Sussex Billiards League played Lewes in a new fixture which provided a nail-biting finish. Both the skippers were drawn first and it was the hosts Simon Hall who outwitted Ian Janman 200-151. Martin Payne pulled the visitors back into contention when he finished strongly beating Leo Hare 200-144 to leave the Middies 7 points ahead at the interval.
Richard Barrett overwhelmed Middies Stuart Williamson 200-89 and when this game finished, Williamson’s colleague James Dew led Steve Roberts 162-90 thus leaving Dew to secure a 38 break to gain overall victory for Mid Sussex. Dew made a brave attempt as he built a break to 25 to find his next effort failing by a fraction of an inch to gain a cannon. Although Dew won 200-109, Robert’s last break of 19 gave Lewes the success by winning the match 653-640.
